The thoughts and ideas we have going through our minds every day, actually every second of every day is what causes us to make the decisions that we make and the actions that we take in all aspects of our lives. Those thoughts and ideas we have are very much influenced by the things we hear and see going on around us, from the television, social media, things we read or hear. Where we currently are in our life and where we want to go, is a direct reflection of what we feed our mind. Whatever we feed our mind with, we start to believe it whether it’s good or bad and once we start to believe it, we make it our reality. We have to become the gate keepers of our mind, constantly guarding what goes in, because what goes in comes back out in the words that we speak and the things that we do, which ultimately leads to the results we get. Garbage in gives you garbage out! If we’re not careful about the thoughts that we allow into our minds, either from ourselves or others, we’ll have life control us instead of us having control of our life.
Adjusting this Simple Habit Will Affect Your Success
So, what does it mean to feed your mind? And how do you go about doing it? It’s actually not as hard as you may think. There are so many different ways to get good, positive thoughts and ideas into your mind. Believe it or not, the most difficult part is choosing which way will work best with your individual circumstance, personality and lifestyle.
Once you get that figured out, the rest is just a matter of implementing the habit or habits into your daily routines. The main objective is to be proactive by making the decision to work on it daily, even if you do it in small intervals. Little progress is better than no progress. Just remember that the results you get are in direct proportion to the effort you give it.
“The past could only control your present and future through your mind. So by all means, guard your mind with the gate of positivity.” – Edmond Mbiaka
It doesn’t matter what method you choose, whether you read books or articles, listen to audio books or podcasts, watch videos of motivational or inspirational speakers, as long as what you’re reading, hearing watching, etc. is positive food for your mind. The key is taking action to feed yourself positive thoughts and ideas, regardless of how small it may be and being consistent with it.
If reading is what works for you, start with even 10-15 minutes a day until you work up to 30 minutes a day, even if you read for 10-minute intervals three times a day. Listen to an audio book or podcast in the car on your commute to work or while running errands. It’s when you consistently do the small things on a daily basis that will you’ll see big results over time.
